Dear students of the Faculty of Social Sciences,

It is our utmost pleasure to introduce to you the 1st ever edition of the UKreate Film Festival organised by The Karlovian Student Media. Are you passionate about filmmaking? Do you have an interest in world affairs? Do you have a story to tell? Then this contest is for you! Please keep reading to find out how you can participate.

Deadline: 9th of May of 2025

Theme:

Anything related to current debates on the political, philosophical or economic fields. Hints or references to Charles University and/or the Faculty of Social Sciences will be appreciated. 

Criteria to be evaluated (Not in any particular order): 

• Creativity and originality.
• Good image and sound quality.
• Coherence and cohesion of the storyline.
• Relevance to current debates and depth of thought.

Submission requirements:

• The film must be between 15 and 30 minutes long.
• The film’s main language must be English. If there are dialogues in any other language, the segments must be subtitled.
• No offensive language or symbolism will be tolerated. 
• The film must be submitted using the anonymous form in The Karlovian website.
• Consent of all actors involved is key. Make sure to let everyone participating know their roles and what is expected of them, as well as the prizes of the contest. 
• We accept films in both .mp4 and .mov formats.
• Please avoid using any kind of copyrighted content (e.g songs or images).

Prizes: 

• First prize (3 return journeys, 3 film tickets for the Karlovy Vary film festival)
• Second prize (3 cinema tickets)
• Third prize (3 FSV items of merchandising)
