With courses at FSV/UK starting up on October 2nd, the 25-1st is known by differing names: Welcome Week, Orientation Week, or Freshers Week. Although, regardless of the name your program calls it. The bottom line remains, that there are things to do and people to see, so in this article, you will find our honest attempt to consolidate the information all into one place. 

FSV/UK Offical Events

25/09/23 Orientation Day

Starting at 9:30 a.m. in room 100 at the Faculty of Law, an all-day orientation will take place. Notable events seem to be a lecture on “The Modern History of Czechoslovakia,” from 10:05 to 10:15, and a “Cross-Cultural Awareness Workshop” from 10:35 to 10:55. 26/09/23 Cross Culture Awareness Workshop & Czech Language Crash Course

It appears that a longer form version of the CCAW event will take place the day following orientation day, and will run from 10 a.m. to Noon in room 212 at the Hollar Building.

Afterwards from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., a crash course in the Czech language will be held at the Hollar Building in room 20.

2709/23 Lecture “Modern History of Czechoslovakia”

Beginning at 10 a.m., once again a longer form of the event that takes place on orientation day will be held at the Jinonice campus. 

27/09/23 Welcome Party

At 6 p.m. on the 27th a Welcome party will be hosted on Střelecký ostrov with live music.

FSV Circle Event

09/25/23 FSV Circle Welcome Meeting

On Monday the Circle will be hosting an informal “get to know and chat with each other” welcome meeting at Stalin Letna, Metronome at 2 p.m. after the Orientation Day meeting with the Faculty. Join them to get to know your classmates or other students from the faculty in order to make some first connections in Prague.

09/29/23 FSV Circle Pub Quiz

FSV Circle will be hosting a Pub Quiz at 7 p.m at Pivní Jistota. More information can be found on their instagram here.

PPE Freshers Week

25/09/23 Orientation at Jinonice* & Meet the professors at Kampa *

From 08:30 – 13:00, there will be an FSV Orientation for First-Year Degree Students at Jinonice, and from 13:00 onwards the PPE Orientation will take place in Room 103B.

After the orientation at Jinonice,  a meeting with the professors will take place at 5 p.m near Mlýnská Kavárna. 

09/26/23 Tour around Prague* & Sunset Drinks at Riegrovy Sady

At 11 a.m. we will meet outside the Hollar building. The exact order of the tour will be sent out before Tuesday! (PPE students should keep an eye out for any emails.) 

Afterward, at 5 p.m. sunset drinks will take place near the beer garden Reigrovy sady

09/27/23 Karlovian Open Meet-up

From 3-6 p.m. The Karlovian will be hosting an open meet-up at Kampus Hybernska. 

09/28/23  Freshers Grill at Ladronka *

From 3:30 onward there will be a relaxing grill with your fellow freshers. Bring a picnic blanket, some games, and your drinks! Food will be provided.

09/29/23 Pub Quiz at The Down Under

Starting at 7 p.m. a Pub Quiz will be held at The Down Under Bar  after a brief introduction to the plans of PPE Student Projects for this semester.

09/30/23 PPE End of Summer Party

Starting at 3 p.m. there will be lunch at Beer & Burger U Čížků. Following lunch the group will move to get drinks at 6 p.m. 

(PPE Students will be asked to  fill out the form which will be sent out early in the week to show what they would like to eat)

Miscellaneous Welcome Week events

09/31/23 Ocotober Plant Swap 

On the 31st of October, it will be the last day of a plant swap hosted at the UK Point Celetna. More information is available here.  

09/29/23 Emo Trivia Night with Pangea Prague

Pangea Prauge, a student-run non-profit organization coming out of Anglo-American University is hosting a trivia night at Tibet Open House at 7:30 p.m. Both an entry of 150 CZK in cash and Team registration are needed. From is here.  

09/30/23 Pangea Prauge Sappho SalonPangea Prague is hosting an event called the Sappho Salon from 8-10 p.m. More information can be found on their Instagram here. Entry is 50 CZK.
